Our Reading Specialist, Mrs. Rivard, is looking for volunteers to help students with reading fluency with a new program called Fluency Friends.
We have many students that need reading intervention. Volunteers will be paired with students for a variety of tasks including flash cards, listening to students reread books, or give 1-minute reading passages.
Because volunteers will be working one-on-one with students, they will be considered Designated Volunteers. Volunteers will need to have a background check and finger printing paid for by MSD.
A brief training will also be required for volunteers. Please fill out the form below to sign up and Mrs. Rivard will be in touch with you.

Summer Reading Resources
HGF will be hosting a Summer Reading Lending Library run by our Reading Specialist Mrs. Rivard. The program will allow K-2 students to borrow 'at level' books twice during the summer. The kick off will be held from 3-4 on Wednesday, June 17 in Mrs. Rivard's classroom. K-2 parent/guardians, look for a form to RSVP in your child's folder soon.
"The research is clear that children who don't read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. The following resources and articles provide information about summer reading and summer learning loss. Plus you'll discover great activities to encourage kids to learn, read, and have fun in the summer sun."
